McDonalds Institute for Archeaological Research

The McDonald Institute for Archaeological Research exists to further research by Cambridge archaeologists and their collaborators into all aspects of the human past, across time and space. It supports archaeological fieldwork, archaeological science, material culture studies, and archaeological theory in an interdisciplinary framework. Since its inception, the Institute has played a particularly leading role in cognitive archaeology, broadly defined.

There are over 100 members of staff, including Administrative Officers assigned to certain Schools, Faculties and Departments.

The Graduate Union not only represents graduate interests within the University, but also provides graduate-focused services and fosters intercollegiate activities and events. The GU is an independent student union for graduates, which:

Promotes graduate issues through representation on University committees and wider campaigns
Provides advice and support on academic and other welfare-related matters
Organises social events and other intercollegiate activities, and maintains a university-wide events calendar.

Counteracting the effects of damage to the brain or spinal cord represents one of the major current challenges to medical science.
