Turnstile

Turnstile

An interactive sound artwork at Brockwell Lido, December 1999.
Using the entranceway of the changing rooms to create a piece of sonic architecture, microphones were attatched to the metal turnstile, with speakers placed at either end of the changing rooms. The two changing room boxes acted as stereo echo chambers to the entrance way, with a low level self-regulating feedback. The participant could 'play' the architecture, and, in particula, when the turnstile itself was turned, hit or played with, the sound fed between the speakers creating an echoing sonic soup in the entrance way.
