education
Over the past ten years the British Atomic Nuclear group has developed a strong programme of nationwide educational support for the teaching of science and technology in primary, secondary and further education.
As part of BANG’s wide ranging consultation programme, two artists - Simon Hollington and Kypros Kyprianou - were invited to become our first ever artists in residence.
To fullfill the education and widening participation remit stipulated in their funding agreement Hollington and Kyprianou enjoyed running a ‘visualising nuclear’ art workshop with selected pupils at Oakridge School. ‘The chldren had great fun and learnt all about the nuclear power industry - “it really ticked all the right boxes for us” they said.
Mike Yass, B.A.N.G‘s managing director says “This is typical of the work being done by our education programme and shows how the nuclear power industry generates new ideas for new generations. It’s great to see kids being so creative - they are, after all, the future consumers and producers of nuclear energy”.
